Did anyone bother to see, how many of them are still running? Please share in the comments.

I am not sure what is worse, your grammar or your spelling. "The 100 Most Oldest Websites in Intenet"
Hmmm... an evil search engine bait :) ny way good find.
Nice find mate... I will have to 'whois' them to find which are still holding :)
1. SYMBOLICS.COM
Still working... Symbolics is currently a privately held company which acquired the assets and intellectual property of the old public company called Symbolics, Inc.
shudnt it be mostest oldest?
I'd say Mostest Oldestesterer.
Good share. Keep posting
Actually, I believe it should be "Leastest Newest Websites on the Internets"
100 OF THE OLDEST WEBSITES ON THE INTERNET TUBES BEFORE THE BUCKET WAS FULL
It's not the mostest interesting content, but you are sure getting traffic due to the clever titling (at least I hope it was done on purpose)!
;)
You guys here for read Title or the article/ post...you think you know much about language grammer oky...tell me English of - 'Purushartha' its a Hindi Word....which you wont find English of...: B*ST*RDS
Example.org
Was this before or after they switch the internet over to tubes?
Wow... the grammar nazis are out in droves today. Attention assholes, this guy is foreign. Enjoy content and leave, that is all.
"You guys here for read Title or the article/ post...you think you know much about language grammer oky...tell me English of - 'Purushartha' its a Hindi Word....which you wont find English of...: B*ST*RDS"
WHAT?
Ever notice how grammatically correct dorks are?
besides grammar the nomenclature is wrong. These are domains, not "websites" in 1985. You weren't surfing the site back then.
don't post english articles if you are foreign then. problem solved.
This was before there were Tubes. You can't travel to other websites without tubes! OH NO, THE PORN IS BLOCKING THE TUBES.
shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
http://digg.com/tech_news/100_Oldest_Domain_Names_6
http://digg.com/tech_news/100_Oldest_Domain_Names_6
its actually "oldest mosty"
In 1985-87, none of these were websites, they were only domain names. The first actual website was put up in 1991, but web sites did not really become popular til 93 and afterward.
You mean to tell me out of all those 100 domains, none of them are porn related? So much for thinking porn was on the internet since the the beginning.
Who gave your lazy ass a blog?
Hay intarnet, I found this list on someone's blog and copied and pasted it here. I haven't provided anything original but if one of you can, can you please let me know so I can add more content to this CRAPPY BLOG.
Anonymous comments on the Intenet? Gotta love them.
The porn was all ascii character based in '85, and a 3kb ascii porn file took 6 hours to download.
Leave the dude's english alone - or show him up by posting a page he can read in Hindi.
First web server @1990

Domain name not the same as a website
Rookie
What, no hotmoms.com?
As a summer intern, I actually registered ATT.com.
We don't need to worry about Islamic terrorists taking over the world. Gen-X and Gen-Y bloggers lacking basic English and grammar skills are doing a much better job.
As a summer intern, I actually made the internet.
Most Oldest fail.
/b/tards every which way
"Did anyone bother to see, how many of them are still running? Please share in the comments."
No - it's your fucking post - why don't *you* tell us... Or would that be too much work?
This is a neat list, but it's been floating around the Internet or many years. I also agree with others in that this should say Top 100 Domain Names, not Websites since the WWW wasn't around until 1989, which is after all these domains were even registered.
4chan is baaaaaack!
Makes me wish I knew about the internet and cybersquatted me some microsoft.com and a million others like it back in the 80's
Hmm what is this dailygyan.com site?
The comments here seem so much more sharper than on digg.com...
Did anyone bother to see, if the rest of it is any good?
Please share in the comments.
NEWSFLASH, DUMBASS: THOSE ARE DOMAIN NAMES NOT WEBSITES.
hi anons!
hail grammar nazi
also gtfo anon
Nice copy pasta, but these are just .com domain names, I'm pretty sure the .gov's were in use before then
Puruṣārtha (a Sanskrit tatpurusha compound translating to "human purpose").

Wow that was quite fascinating. Pretty neat to see who was around when it all started.

If you mention #13 at the end of the article, you should make sure there aren't two #13s.

wheres the porn?????
This is all very funny! Hyuk! How about trying to translate "I love sports, not games" to Hindi! How about "Use logic to reason through inference"!
If I'll get an email from one of those domains, I'll mark it as spam. All of them.
"don't post english articles if you are foreign then. problem solved."
Right, did we forget what capital letters where for also? Anonymous wouldn't stupid for American would it?
"You mean to tell me out of all those 100 domains, none of them are porn related? So much for thinking porn was on the internet since the the beginning. "
This I lurv, how true, it was the nerdy co's of IBM and Intel that got in early to domain names, I guess Porn came with the pics of the web. Pity the air-con company Email didn't get in on it early hey?
As a summer intern i actually built the robot that is Al Gore that then went on to invent the internet.
The comments left were so much more interesting than the content itself, I love the internet.
FAIL.COM
why didn't anyone bother to include http://stuffididlastnight.com on this list!!?!??
Someone come up with the oldest screenshot.
"hail grammar nazi
also gtfo anon"
Says an anonymous poster. Lol.
Got proper grammar?
Proper grammar is essential to intelligence.
Also...
domain name != website
Sheesh.
"Wow... the grammar nazis are out in droves today. Attention assholes, this guy is foreign. Enjoy content and leave, that is all."
Content is inaccurate. See above comment. Thank you.
Oh, and just in case you haven't a clue as to what "!=" means...
!= -> IS NOT EQUAL TO
Point noted and content updated.
http://www.walthowe.com/navnet/history.html
My domain (geekster.com) was first registered on 03-Aug-1998. How do I find out how many domains existed at that time? I'm sure that a LOT of domains were registered in the 9 months between the first 100 and when I came along.
Nevermind, I didn't notice that these were 1987 when I was 1998. Oops.
did anyone notice how the bad grammar and spelli..... nevermind.
@ Anoop Engineer
Thank you. Content is now worthy of my praise. :)
Copy pasta, maybe, but I've never seen it before, and I find it quite interesting.
Grammer Nazis FTW
apperenyl, http://www.opentopix.com was also available in 1986
internets?
garmmar FAIL
Everyone love funny grammer. But especially most people love the internet, they love it when it is say wrong "interweb" and "internets" and "america learns only the one best language english, so please my hot ammerican gay mouth filled up with foreign spermm!""
funny my company is 61th
Internet != DNS != World Wide Web...
RFC 830 (A Distributed System for Internet Name Service) was written in 1982; RFC 881-883 during the following two years. Prior to that, hostnames were maintained in a centralized file for ~10 years.
The first public web servers/browser were released in ~1993.
!!long live anonn blog comments about grammatical errors!!!
the 2 most baddest grammar mistakes in a post title
This article is OK, but I am disappointed because the digg posting mentioned these were websites. I thought I would be seeing screenshots of the 100 "most oldest" websites, not just domain names.
To the commenter who said "this guy is foreign", you are an idiot. The guy is not "foreign" if he is currently in his own country. That is like saying everyone other than people in the United States (which is where I live) is "foreign". You must be one of the 25% of Americans who not only voted twice for George W. Bush but who still approve of him.
am i right in thinking then that between november 1986 and january 1987 there were only six websites on the internet?
If anyone takes the P**S out of my grammar she will come around and beat the crap out of you with her handbag;(
chupen pico
Dood
Whats with the 'Most' 'Oldest'!!!
I don't understand why everyone is freaking out over the grammar/spelling. It's clear that the poster isn't a native English speaker, but we still understand the point of the post. Isn't it nice that he made the effort to post in a language we understand? So let's un-bunch those underpants, shall we?
One day at band camp....I noticed that Microsucks isn't on this list. Oh that's right, DOS cannot accept that many characters. micros~1.com wouldn't make any sense.
@Veronica: the word "underpants" is distinctively male in connotation, so can we assume you have a specific agenda with your comment? If so, might I recommend with all respect that you unclench your feminist buttocks?
@all commenters: and to think the Internet is the greatest communication tool humanity has ever created.
they forgot www.ClownPenis.Fart from Saturday Night Live
The wall looks fine why did he fuck$ it up with is bike chalk!!!
Are you on the same website?
Is it really July 30? I don't understand.
This is the postest with the mostest
I postest that at 2:29 PM 29 July, please, don't tell me that everything on the internet does not reflectest reality... Perhaps we postest too much...

BARE JOKZ COMMENTS LOLOLOLOL
are any of those porn sites?
I was fooled for a second on CAYMAN.com
100 "most" oldest?
I've only done the first 50, but here are my results thus far:
1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, "14", 15, "17", 18, 19, "21", "22", "23", "25", 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, "32", "33", "35", "36", "39", "40", 42, "43", "44", "45", "47", and "49" will all load succesfully, and appear to be the real deal.
16, "34", "38", and 50 will not load.
4 might not be for the original domain name. It is for a community college.
"31" might not be the original domain name. It is for "Big Dog Motorcycles."
"46" might not be the original domain name. It is for an online travel site.
REDIRECTS:
5 goes to hp.com
6 goes to northropgrumman.com
10 goes to telcordia.com
20 goes to verizonwireless.com
"24" goes to national.com/analog
"41" goes to verizonwireless.com
"37" and "48" do not exist anymore.
I'll get the other 50 when I have a chance.
Nice work

SRI.com is still open and active - I checked this one, as it was bought the day after my birthday. :D Wowee, I really am the NetAge Child...
My next blog is going to be riddled with grammar errors, 90% of these comments are about grammar and not the content.
Good post.
:)
it would be more interesting to see, who registrered these first domains.

??Moost Oldist Wibsyt in the intirnit ...
Dis is mhy englesh. Can u rid me? Language is evolving. Grammar is not importan now!
"My company is 61th"
61th? You mean 61st? Your company (there are 3 listed btw) must be very proud of you. I can't believe I wasted all this time in reading these responses....and then responded myself. Language is evolving, apparently stupidity too....
the porn was alive in well at least as early as 1988, you had to dial in to a BBS with a 4800 baud rated acoustic modem on an Apple IIC and wait 10 minutes for a soft core pic. Watch "Wargames" if you have no idea what Im typing about...
the oldest screenshot was no doubt on a windows pc and looked exactly like this:

ERR DUDE nordu.net - 1/1/85!

-I'd like to join the Internets pipes likes I knows my stuffs, so here is a template seems to apply to 98% of the posts, I'll flesh it out l8tr (see,
l8tr' means 'later', due to the homophonic nature of '8' and 'ate', cool, huh?)
"As a summer intern, I actually made the internet." So you were the guy in the adjoining cubicle. I was wondering why you kept peering over the divider. Thief!
