Hi All,

a second developer has created an alternate version of Tsukasa's utility which does not rely on .Net - it can be found here:
http://marshwiggle.net/regfont/

PS. you just need to type regfont *.* for it to register all fonts in that directory.

copy regfont.exe to C:\Temp\fonts\
copy shortcut of regfont.exe C:\Temp\fonts\

in properies of shortcut in target field paste:
C:\Temp\fonts\regfont.exe -a C:\Temp\fonts\*.ttf

of course you can chance folders names ect. and .ttf maybe even *.* (every file) will be ok

Thanks for this! This was one of the first results from Google, and it worked like a charm. Perfect for when I'm working with Illustrator and Photoshop at school. I can put it on a flash drive and take all my fonts with me.

Thank you, this worked! However, when I try to print a couple of the fonts don't print. Also, I can't convert my document into a PDF because Adobe is using fonts that are in the windwos fonts folder. Is there a solution for this? I really need a PDF of my document.

could you compile a version of this that does not require the user to have .NET Framework 2.0 ? or include the DLL’s that it needs?

i do not have administrator privileges nor .NET at work and hence can’t run RegisterFont without getting the error: “The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.”

if i did have administrator privileges i would be able to install .NET Framework 2.0 but in that case i would just be able to install the fonts i need, and wouldn’t need this fix

This will work with any filename

For those who have a lot of font files and can start a Command Prompt the following command will add any ttf files found in the directory
c:\temp (for example)

cd c:\temp
for %f in (*.ttf) do registerfont add "%f"

I can't add any font files that have more than one word (ie. Antipasto.ttf works, but Avant Garde Bk BT.ttf doesn't.) I tried replacing spaces with underscores so it looks like Avante_Garde_Bk_BT.ttf, but then that's not the font's real name so it can't find that file. What do I replace the spaces with, or what do I do??

Otherwise, the steps were pretty straightforward and really helped. Thanks!

Right click on this shortcut and select Properties. Append the string add font1.ttf font2.ttf to the Target field. Remember to replace font1, font2 etc with the name of the fonts that you have downloaded to this folder. In my case I have added two fonts Blazed.ttf and sketchy.ttf. My shortcut properties looks like:

Please help! I'm trying to install fonts on a computer which you guessed has admin settings. I went through your process to install the fonts but am running into some problems. If I do as shown then it runs in that DOS looking application but does not do anything. I was able to catch it with print screen to see the text and it looks like there's an error. I tried adding one " at the end before the add font but it wouldn't let me saying that was not a proper file name. I also tried going in and unchecking "save fonts to font folder" but that didn't help either... any suggestions!?

@ Anonymous (11/24): The Target Location is the folder the shortcutted item resides in. You did it right. Mine also says 'RegisterFont' because I kept the original folder name when I unzipped it.
